Learning new letters is the first step into the wonderful world of books and knowledge, probably this is why children are eager to know them as soon as possible.
You can see here the Polish alphabet – the letters are of the Latin origin, as the Italian letters are.

All written materials, books and newspapers are typed. It is not so easy to learn a shape of written letters for the first graders, they have to practice a lot.

They can see different examples to get used to.

Pupils are shown the way of writing. Following given directions allows them to get the best results. Of course they have to practice a lot.
Abbecedario used in the class first elementary in the years 50

The abbecedario was used in the first primary in order to teach children to use the letters of the alphabet. These slides provide important information on how to design teaching in those years and on the representation of the world then, on trades and on the division of roles between men and women

  1. The alphabet was a good way to introduce different professions to children. It might be rather difficult to find a profession for each Polish letter.
These pictures are great, and I think even better than photographs, and probably you are right, they show different men and women roles in the society of those days.
